Architectural Review of the Royal Commonwealth Pool
Click here to download my paper on The Royal Commonwealth Pool
This is the final paper from one of my favorite classes I took while studying abroad at the University of Edinburgh. The paper covers a building I walked by daily on the way to class: The Royal Commonwealth Pool. I became enamored with the pool, not when I saw it in person, but when I started looking for a building to research. Part of what makes the building so appealing is that, despite its architectural style being juxtaposed with many of the surrounding buildings, it does an excellent job of not detracting from its environment while still pushing the architectural envelope in its time. I enjoyed this class because it helped connect world movements and design and demonstrated how design can take a stance, which I keep in mind with my own work.
