The original version of this project can be found on my previous projects page. With the original version, I really liked the design and the idea, but because it was a project I was doing for a class, the class ended, and my team was never able to get camtrack to work fully. The reason camtrack didn't work originally was that I designed the gears in the gearboxes based on a standard tooth profile with no consideration to the actual size of the gears, and I didn't properly support the shafts the gears were on. These errors led to the gears skipping and a lot of backlash, and ultimately, camtrack failing to track a subject accurately. For version two, I'm keeping much of the original design but fixing the gearbox issues so that it can smoothly track a subject. Then I'm doing away with mounting camtrack on its own bespoke tripod and instead making it so that it can easily mount to any industry-standard tripod.
