Engineering For Humanity
The goal of this project was to create a device that could help someone with severe dementia and mobility restrictions safely get into a car. The device also had to be easily transportable as it needed to be usable at any common locations where a car would be used for transportation. This project was interesting because our client was someone who, due to her dementia, could not express her needs. This taught me to be particularly observant of pain points, not just created by the problem being addressed but by the proposed solution as well. Another challenge with this project is that no one solution could fix all of the problems we were encountering. This forced me to distinguish between the parts of the problem I could and couldn't solve, and to then focus on the things I could improve.
