Once through the Welland Canal we continued on for Detroit. Lake Erie is very shallow and the bottom is spotted with natural gas wells. While in theory the wells only protrude of the bottom a few meters and we were usually in seven or more meters of water we spent much of the start of the day weaving around gas wells marked on the chart. Eventually we made our way out to the shipping channels and were able to follow a straighter course.

For our second lake crossing we were again very lucky to find ourselves screaming along under favorable wind. By the time the sun rose we had covered some good distance and the wind clocked around to directly behind us and we put the pole out for the genoa. We sailed wing on wing for the rest of the day and happily noting too eventful happened. For dinner Martha made the first lasagna of the trip which was spectacular. We've been carrying lasagna sheets since the very start of the trip so its nice to finally use them.
