Halifax Is Too Nice: 7/12/26

Night watches went well and we made our way into Halifax as soon as the sun came up. On our way into Halifax, we saw two warships and a cruise ship, all of which were good reminders that we are not the biggest boat in the ocean—with the cruise ship being 280 meters long. We sailed into the Northwest Arm looking for the anchorage at the end of the arm and were blown away by the fanciness of the houses on the shore. Once we put the anchor down, the crew went ashore to explore, and I stayed on the boat and transferred photos for this blog and took another nap, after which I went into Halifax to find the crew for dinner. On my walk in, I discovered what everyone else on the boat already had, which was Halifax is incredibly nice. Everyone was young, good-looking, and happy. The parks were all full of people flying kites and the streets full of people walking around and enjoying the sunny afternoon. We ended up at a pub for dinner where we all ordered the same burger and interrogated our waitress for what dark secret of Halifax was hiding underneath all of the idyllicness; she was a dead end.
